Thomas Atchison

Thomas Atchison was raised in Tuscaloosa, AL, but has a love for Selma and considers it home. After graduating high school from American Christian Academy in 2000, he obtained his B.S. degree in Political Science and Consumer Affairs from The University of Alabama achieving the Dean's List all four years and receiving the Presidential Award for best paper in Criminal Law. He graduated from Jones Law School in 2007 where he was part of the advocacy team winning the regional competition. Thomas was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in May of 2007. Thomas served as an Assistant District Attorney from 2005-2007 in the 19th Judicial Circuit for Randall Houston.


He moved to Selma in 2007 to join Gamble, Gamble & Calame law firm focusing on trial, domestic, and criminal defense areas of the law. He joined Pitts, Pitts & Williams in 2011 focusing on trial, criminal defense, estate planning, and domestic relations work areas of the law. In 2015, Thomas started his own firm, Atchison Injury Attorneys, LLC, and became of counsel for Alexander Shunnarah focusing on trial work and criminal defense. He also served as the Dallas County Drug Court attorney for 10 years. Presently, Thomas is an owner and partner with Hawthorne, Atchison & Riddle Law Group focusing on Serious Injury and Wrongful Death along with general law.


Thomas has served on the Selma City Council 2008-2009, Vice President of the Selma Rotary Club 2009-2010, Trustmark Bank Advisory Board, Integrity Worldwide Advisory Board, and Leadership Selma/Dallas County. After nearly a decade of general practice and insurance defense, Thomas decided to specialize in personal injury law, and is now serving victims of personal injury throughout the Blackbelt.


Thomas is married to Kaley Atchison, who serves as his Office Manager at Hawthorne, Atchison & Riddle Law Group. They have two children Thomas Clay and Kate and attend Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in downtown Selma.
